Where's Waldo? The North End of Sausalito, Then and Now
Friday, September 25
7:00pm inside the Library
Co-sponsored by the Sausalito Historical Society
Sausalito historians Mike Moyle and Larry Clinton will be on hand to take us on a fascinating trip through the north end of Sausalito in time and space. With aerial photos, stills, and video, Larry and Mike will capture a changing town from Sausalito’s early days to the present.
Themes will include the old rail yards at the base of Spring Street, Pine Point (which was condemned and dynamited during World War II for use as landfill for the Marinship shipyards), Whiskey Springs (site of the American Distilling Co.'s distillery until it was destroyed by fire in the 1960s), and the Waldo community, which was supplanted by the Marinship housing project that later became Marin City.
Remembering Shel Silverstein Exhibit
The Sausalito Public Library and the Sausalito Historical Society will join for a celebration of the life and works of former Sausalito resident Shel Silverstein.
Silverstein’s diverse and remarkable body of work earned him renown as a cartoonist and illustrator, an author of popular children’s books, a poet, a screenwriter and an award-winning songwriter.

New Directors for Historical Society
At the Sausalito Historical Society’s May 13 annual membership meeting, four new directors were elected to the board of the Society: Mary Ann Griller, Jim Muldoon, Steefenie Wicks and Jerry Taylor. They replace outgoing board members Larry Clinton, Ann Heurlin, Donald Sibbett, Robin Sweeny and Angela Wildman.
Jerry Taylor was later elected President of the Board, replacing Clinton, who served as President for the past six years. Incumbent officers were re-elected for additional two year terms: Dana Whitson, Vice President; Sharon Seymour, Secretary; and Teddie Hathaway, Treasurer.

ABOUT US
We are a group friends, neighbors, colleagues, local merchants, scholars, writers, artists, historians, history buffs, and history enthusiasts who've been keeping Sausalito's past alive since 1975. The Sausalito Historical Society is an entirely volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that collects and preserves art, artifacts, photographs and printed materials that document Sausalito’s history; provides access to the collection for public and academic research; and develops publications and outreach programs to inspire local interest in Sausalito’s history to educate the visiting public and enrich the community. Annual membership dues, donations, and funds raised are used for new acquisitions, maintenance of the collection and public outreach through exhibits and publications.
